Mara Branscombe
Mara discovered Yoga sixteen years ago while doing a B.A. in cultural history. Her curiosity for a deeper understanding of yoga led her to India where she studied with many great teachers. Since then, Yoga has been the most poignant, transformative, and informative force in her life.
Mara received her yoga certification through Trinity Yoga and continues to be inspired by her long-term teacher and friend, Mary-Jo Fetterly. Her teaching practice draws from several traditions: Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Anusara, Shamanic Medicine, Authentic Movement, Contact Dance, Pilates, and Release Technique. Mara's sense of artistry and professional dance background contributes to the design of her class through dynamic flow, joy, playfulness, grace, strength, and vitality. She encourages her students to move "from the inside out"; drawing upon true awareness of body alignment, breath work, and commitment on the mat.
Mara's vision is to make yoga accessible to all students, from beginners to advanced, designing a class that contributes to the awareness of each student's unique form of expression.
Mara is the director of Rise Yoga in Vancouver, British Columbia where she teaches in corporate offices, at conferences, in studio's, on film sets, and offers private sessions. Mara has taught yoga internationally, and this past year has been working with Lululemon, leading yoga classes at their large executive conferences.

GERALDINE LAHIFFE
Geraldine has practiced yoga for over 10 years.
She was trained in Hatha
Yoga and Vinyasa-style flow, at Salt Spring Center of Yoga on Salt
Spring
Island BC, and Prana Yoga and Zen Center in Vancouver BC, Canada.
She also works as a Pilates instructor and a Registered Physical
Therapist in
Vancouver.
She originally came to yoga through Baba Hari Dass,
a Himalayan yogi whose method incorporates the eight limbs (Astha
Anga) of traditional yoga practice, including Asana (postures),
Pranayama (breath work), Pratyahara and Dyana(sense control and
concentration exercises). By following the asthanga method, the
physical body and the mind can become stronger, more relaxed and
balanced, and the spirit can have room to emerge and soar.
Geraldine enjoys teaching vinyasa-style yoga, a
system of integrated
breathing and movement which heats the blood, improves circulation,
removes toxins and allows the body to become healthy, light and
strong. By increasing awareness of movement and breath, it also
allows us to befriend and be fully present with our bodies.
Geraldine is very grateful to be able to share her
practice with the
students at On Yoga Sayulita. |
